Raised on a rose farm next door to Green Point (Domaine Chandon) in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, one of Australia's foremost cool climate regions, Damian first got his start in wine while taking a year off from university studies at what was then Eyton on Yarra (now Rochford) where he worked the cellar door.
Since that time, Damian has accumulated over 20 years’ experience in hat-awarded restaurants, boutique hotels, bars and, more recently, in beverage competitions – most notably as Competition & Event Manager, Beverage, for the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria where he delivered three award programs and their associated events, including Australia’s largest and most prestigious wine competition, the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards.
As a consultant to the hospitality, events and competitions industries, immediately prior to joining the ICCWS Damian ran the South Australian Tourism Commission’s inaugural Tasting Australia Spirit Awards and consulted to a Melbourne-based company exporting Australian wine to China.
A major project for this client saw Damian develop an extensive wine education manual, as well as tasting notes and sales documents for translation into Chinese.
Joining the ICCWS as Event Manager, Damian brings to the show a wealth of knowledge and expertise in wine competitions and events.
