Ross Karavis has an extensive background in event organisation and management. He has been involved with food and beverage competitions since 2011. For seven and a half years he was the competition manager for the Australian Food Awards and its predecessor, the Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards.
Ross developed and managed the Australian International Coffee Awards and the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards. He has also volunteered at the the Great Lakes Cider and Perry Competition in the USA and at the Australian Cider Awards and the Victorian Barista Championships.
In the 2000's Ross also organised street festivals, industry awards, University Open Days, an international film festival and a Greek food and wine festival. Ross has also served on the board of Express Media, the Emerging Writers Festival and the Greek Festival of Sydney.
Ross is currently a Doctoral candidate in History at the University of Melbourne researching the impact of French gastronomic taste on Australian culinary culture between 1850 and 1914.
Nothing gives Ross greater pleasure than to share a glass of wine, a handful of Australian table olives and a wedge of Australian semi hard goats milk cheese with friends.
